Nari

Nari was born in Seoul, Korea. She moved to Los Angeles, California when she was 11 years-old with her family. Growing up, drawing and painting were always a big part of her childhood. Introduced by her artistic mother who was a talented seamstress and a self-taught artist, art came naturally to her. And the undeniable influence of her Korean birthplace continued to be present in her artwork —blending together the distinct cultures through the eyes of a child. While attending art school back in Korea, she was able to hone her craft in still life, traditional landscapes and figure drawings. In her middle and high school years in California, she decided to pursue a career in fine art and was accepted to the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. She graduated with honors in the year 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree.

Nari worked as an Editorial Illustrator for various magazines, as well as publishing and record companies. Her work was featured in the “Art Directors Annual No. 80” for Warner Brothers Records, as well as showing in different galleries in Los Angeles. In 2012 she relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and began working as a production artist / designer at an art production company / art gallery until early 2018. By working with many talented artists and art directors, she was able to learn more advanced techniques while developing her own style of painting.  As an independent artist, Nari spends everyday in her studio creating paintings that focus on movements with interesting layers of paints and textures. She likes to work with acrylic paints and ink on canvases and papers. The subjects she enjoys the most are florals, abstract, transitional, and landscapes — the influence of her Asian childhood
still present in the balance and flow of her work.

Textile design, fashion and interior design are some of her interests for the future and serve an inspiration for her art. Now Nari lives in Goodyear, Arizona with her husband, two sons and her dog, Kalli.
