Making art is an emotional release for me, especially when I work with clay. There is something very wonderful and healing when I take a lump of earth and center it and form it into a pot. I enjoy throwing and altering my forms into functional pottery; I tend to decorate simply, by adding lines, dragonflies, or a simple bird on top of a jar.
I am influenced by nature. When I go for walks in nature my eyes tend to catch the details of the lines and texture on trees and plants. I can see the movement of the smallest insects and then I go in close for a view. The beauty of the details, patterns and color of bugs absolutely amaze me, as the designs on dragonflies’ wings are a piece of artwork themselves. I try to capture some of these lines and textures on my own work.
