"With all of life's changes or seasons, it seems that maturation is only possible in steps and is often circular in fashion. Failure to mature means a basic failure not only to grow, but to survive. This same thing applies to my work. Still working outdoors, still returning to the studio, my work is growing as am I. No longer content with good strong pieces, returning to drawing and to an increased interest in color is lending interesting qualities to a mature painting style. The moody quality is still there, but now there is a solidity that lends itself to fluidity, as a ship lends itself to the ocean."
