In my work I am concerned with relating two-dimensional space to three-dimensional space, juxtaposing reality with illusion. The properties of the clay medium allow me, while working, to move readily between the drawn form and the sculpted form. This for me makes clay and exciting medium in which to work.

While some pieces are mainly an exploration of formal qualities, others are reflections of the emotions and thought I wish to relate to the viewer. Some are floating visual memories, some are social, some political. I try to unite images with memory, both the viewers and mine, so that the piece becomes a form of communication.

I am interested in showing how dependent we are upon each other as we exist as individuals, as members of a family, and as members of a community.
