ARTIST’S STATEMENT
“Working with direct observations from nature,I look for abstract compositional elements of the landscape. These may be in the form of an outcropping of trees on the distant horizon or a shadow dividing a sundrenched field and a darkened sky. This provides me with the initial geometric arrangement to work from. Light, color, space, and form all become interacting principles in the expression of the painting...
The environment plays an important part in establishing an identity in my work. The spareness of land, hills, and space contributes to the sense of place inherent in the painting.”
