Beth Fink

Beth G. Fink is an artist who loves color, and who has explored and succeeded at a variety of art forms including oil painting, card design, ceramics, weaving, and primitive rug hooking.  Beth became passionate about working with glass after taking several fused glass classes at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts.  Over the last six years, she has been accumulating the equipment necessary to create her own glass studio in her home.

The fused glass process involves choosing colors, visualizing your outcome, cutting, layering and fusing the glass.  The glass is fused in a kiln at a temperature of about 1500 degrees, and then slowly cooled so that it will not crack.  This 12 hour process is followed by a second 12 hour process to slump (or mold) the glass into its final form.  Each piece of art is unique and takes 2 or more days to create!  Beth utilizes a wide variety of high quality glass including dichroic and iridescent glass that have a beautiful, shimmering, reflective quality that changes depending on the viewing angle.

What makes fusing so special is that it allows for innumerable combinations of different colors, shapes and textures of glass to be combined into a spectacular unique piece of art!  Beth is constantly envisioning new ways to assemble her glass to achieve new and intriguing effects.  It is the endless excitement of never knowing for sure how each piece will turn out that has this artist enamored with fused glass!
